Planning notes for Punta Cana
Golden hour is short — and it moves
On the east coast, sunset drops behind you (over the island, not the water). We aim ceremonies for 4:30–5:00 PM in high season so vows finish in soft light and portraits finish at true golden hour. Resort planners will push earlier for the sun overhead — push back if the light matters to you.
Rain plans are non-optional
Even in dry season a fifteen-minute squall can pass through. Every resort has an indoor backup — get a walk-through of it before you commit, especially at the larger properties where the “plan B” can be a ballroom sized for a very different vibe.
Symbolic vs legal
Nearly every DR-bound couple handles the legal side at home and holds a symbolic ceremony on the beach. It removes the biggest logistical friction (apostilled documents, translations, in-person appointments at least a month prior) and gives you complete freedom over the ceremony format.
